All of my students came to me at the beginning of the year without any knowlegde of the alphabet. Now my Kindergartners are working hard to read like first graders. We practice reading every day, but sometimes that isn't enough. My students are especially low on comprehension and they need more time spent listening to stories as they follow along to enrich both their language and their understanding.
